Work in progress, Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus. Early stages of converting the Red House to how it is now. Love that the road is still visible here. Wish I had some pics of the old goods yard as it was at the time this was taken.
Dunbar bakers, Coupar Angus. I think the bakers had already closed when I shot this. The bakehouse to the right was a regular haunt after a Friday night at the Nortel - grabbing a pie on the way home or just hanging about waiting for a fight to ensue. Happy days.
Crowd shot - Long Fin Killie gig, QMU, Glasgow. Pic from behind the drums showing crowd at Long Fin Killie gig at the QMU in Glasgow.
Fairfield housing estate, Perth. Just a pic shot on the way to college looking in to Fairfield Estate in Perth. Most likely done on a 105mm lens.
Wm Low Supermarket, Blairgowrie. Not much of a pic to be honest. William Low’s supermarket in Blairgowrie, later to become a Tesco store.
Mabel Townsley, Lucky white heather seller, Perth. Damned if I can remember her name - was it Mabel Townsley? Not sure. Anyway, a regular fixture in Perth peddling ‘lucky white heather’ Didn’t look like it brought her much luck TBH. Shot on the High Street just outside next. Not awfully sharp but you get the picture.
Colin Greig, QMU, Glasgow. Sure this was a Long Fin Killie gig a couple of days before christmas at the QMU. The Shamen were playing in the main hall and we played at something stupid like 3am in an upstairs bar. Colin here relieving the boredom with a box of matches.
Woman preening herself in BHS cafe, St Johns Centre, Perth. I spent far too much time in British Home Store’s cafe in Perth. I’m sure they did a breakfast for 99p - on a wee oval plate as I recall and it was shit, but cheap, and it was great for people-watching.
Hanging about on Alexandra Street, Perth. This was shot in 1989 when I think the dole office was still on Alexandra Street in Perth. Small group of worthies who obviously spotted me grabbing this shot.
Perth Bull Sales, 1989. I shot a ton of Kodak 3200 at the first bull sales at the new mart in Perth in February, 1989. Here’s a long-lens shot of my father and gentleman-photographer, Niall M. Robertson quite aptly looking down on proceedings from one of the raised walkways which let you move around the pens without encountering any beasts - of the four legged type that is.
Kodak girl outside Wilson Laing Studio, Blairgowrie. I would have been in 5th or 6th year at school in Blair when I shot this. Impromptu saucy moment outside Wilson Laings studio. Pictured are Marc Gellatly and Martin Henderson.
Window cleaner, Strangeways, George St, Perth. I spent a good few hours in Strangeways over the years - mostly during the day, spinning out a cup of frothy coffee of an afternoon. It’s looking a bit shabby here.
Three old blokes blethering on Perth High Street. Just a snap of three old blokes having a blether on the High Street in Perth. I love that the Daily Mail (rag that it is) has a spot red panel on the mast - pre-four colour printing.
Colin Greig. A very grainy pic of Colin Greig.
3 lads pushing a car in Melville Street, Perth. Happy snap grabbed on my old man’s Leica.
