Photo studio, Perth Mart 1990ish. When the new mart opened in Perth they allowed a space to take pics of animals. In it’s first outing some prick parked a van in it. Here’s l-r my father (around the age I am now) Niall Robertson from the Scottish Farmer and I think it was Pete Hancock (freelance). He was only ever reffered to as ‘Hancock’ and being from South of the border, was only just tolerated. My father once flicked bull shit on the back of his Barbour for being a cunt - he was reasonably annoying but probably didn’t deserve that.
St John Street from spire of St Johns Kirk, Perth. Not an amazing pic but it does show St John Street (where I had a flat) before it was turned in to the deserted thoroughfare it is now courtesy of pedestrianisation. This was taken from the spire of St Johns Kirk.
Alice Sutherland, Long Fin Killie gig, Cafe Noir, Perth. Don’t think was long after Tom joined LFK - maybe even his first gig? Anyway, here’s his Mrs, Alice upstairs in the Cafe Noir, Perth.
J S Lees shop, Smeatons Bridge, Perth. Not much of a pic this but it this shop has to have lain empty for at least 20 years. Was never in it but there can’t be many shops on bridges - apart from the Galata Bridge which has a fair few.
Fairfield housing estate from Crieff Road, Perth. Looks like I grabbed this on the way to college. Done on a Blad and Ilford b/w film.
Sales ring, Perth Bull Sales, 1989. I’m pretty certain this was the first sale at the new mart as it was then (now flattened). Pic shows a Charolais in the ring - shot on Niall Robertsons wide Nikon lens - maybe a 24mm? Vignette courtesy of me not pushing the hood back.
Work in progress, Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus. Early stages of converting the Red House to how it is now. Love that the road is still visible here. Wish I had some pics of the old goods yard as it was at the time this was taken.
Dunbar bakers, Coupar Angus. I think the bakers had already closed when I shot this. The bakehouse to the right was a regular haunt after a Friday night at the Nortel - grabbing a pie on the way home or just hanging about waiting for a fight to ensue. Happy days.
Crowd shot - Long Fin Killie gig, QMU, Glasgow. Pic from behind the drums showing crowd at Long Fin Killie gig at the QMU in Glasgow.
Fairfield housing estate, Perth. Just a pic shot on the way to college looking in to Fairfield Estate in Perth. Most likely done on a 105mm lens.
Wm Low Supermarket, Blairgowrie. Not much of a pic to be honest. William Low’s supermarket in Blairgowrie, later to become a Tesco store.
Mabel Townsley, Lucky white heather seller, Perth. Damned if I can remember her name - was it Mabel Townsley? Not sure. Anyway, a regular fixture in Perth peddling ‘lucky white heather’ Didn’t look like it brought her much luck TBH. Shot on the High Street just outside next. Not awfully sharp but you get the picture.
Colin Greig, QMU, Glasgow. Sure this was a Long Fin Killie gig a couple of days before christmas at the QMU. The Shamen were playing in the main hall and we played at something stupid like 3am in an upstairs bar. Colin here relieving the boredom with a box of matches.
Woman preening herself in BHS cafe, St Johns Centre, Perth. I spent far too much time in British Home Store’s cafe in Perth. I’m sure they did a breakfast for 99p - on a wee oval plate as I recall and it was shit, but cheap, and it was great for people-watching.
Hanging about on Alexandra Street, Perth. This was shot in 1989 when I think the dole office was still on Alexandra Street in Perth. Small group of worthies who obviously spotted me grabbing this shot.
